Yeah... This is what I was saying before. It's already transitioning from Tropical to ET

In such a warm environment, weird no?

Apparently someone negotiated Hamas/Hezbollah to a weaker scenario...

Probably these guys:

FT Myers is seeing some surge already.  Heading into low tide at 5:00, but high tide could be rough there at 11 or so.

Not trying to put spc on blast but I did go back and check their 2 day and 1day  convective/tornado outlook to see if they detailed any of the tornado chances this morning/aftenoon

so yea they didn’t necessarily raise too many alarms, really really tough circumstances.  Had a friend tell me Taft many people were preparing for a hurricane but have been blindsided by tornadoes.  So I had to go back and check just how blindsided even spc was.  I’d say it caught everyone by surprise, especially to the degree that we’ve seen already.  No ill intent, just trying to show how surprising this outbreak actually is.

I thought the same this morning the stamp says issued 06z today for 12z today. I figured it would be day 0 not day 1

We call them out when they're off, and back them when they're on.

Florida has something for everyone! hurricanes for the blizzard trackers, tornados for the tornado trackers.. no volcanos or earthquakes yet though.

I appreciate everyone's insight here! Getting a little breezy here north of Orlando, gonna get interesting before long

Yea I saw todays but that didn’t help anyone

I mainly checked cause I had a friend tell me that a lot of people preparing fir the hurricane hit suprised/hit with tornado and tornado warnings and I wanted to see how fair of a statement that was.  An update to the 1d outlook at 06z on the day of the threat isn’t great. One of those things where just was realized too late.

There was no talk of tornados in Central FL until a couple hours ago, it came totally out of left field for 90% of people

They used the words “a couple” and “low probability” quite a bit. 🙁

That's just so standard for every hurricane I wonder if it's just boilerplate tacked on there. A storm as well organized as this putting the entire peninsula on the northeast quadrant I'd say Stevie wonder saw an outbreak coming.  I'm thinking they didn't dig into it at that lead time for whatever reason.

50+ warnings going on at once is some serious stuff, it definitely would have been better if they played it up more. But at the end of the day you can't evacuate for tornados.

Maybe I've just been hanging out here too much, but I assumed tornado outbreaks were a normal part of hurricanes and were expected to happen. I certainly was expecting them, and also expected to hear stories of people who evacuated east/south only to get surprised by a tornado.

Supposed to slow down and turn more eastward, so looking like Longboat Key or Bradenton Beach are most likely landfall locations to me

It seems like this approach from the East is dragging bands straight up the state in a direction they rarely run. Usually our periodic tornados are from severe storms that hit the east coast and run up the state in a NW/NNW direction. Now if only I knew the science reason for this...probably something to do with low-level shear from interacting with the east coast and eastern inland areas? So much to learn

Tale of two radar pictures less than an hour apart. First one struggling, second one pulling it together, again. Very glad this didn't happen an hour or two earlier.
