Trying not to take too much of the thread up with the tornado discussion but Ryan Hall has started his live stream and has been covering it as well.

I have family in Englewood.  They're still digging out of 3 feet of sand and wasted buildings.

Wider view since sunrise

This appears to be transitioning to extra tropical already. You can see the interaction with the trough and the switch from heat engine to baroclynic.

Some of these tornadoes are coming from essentially discrete supercells, not really even outer bands.  The smaller/short-lived ones tend to occur closer to the hurricane.

Thanks @Hoosier & @MidwestWX for the breakdown.

Stretch and I saw I believe what you guys call left/right movers last night over the gulf. One cell looked like it split. Others just moving in different directions, it reminded me of some of the stuff you guys catch.

My Cousin, his wife, 3 kids and 2 dogs left Sarasota yesterday for Jacksonville.   They may have to relocate again.

Today is my off day and I had to get out of the house, too worried about family.   Currently sitting at bar in the pizza restaurant watching the weather channel.

They should head inland into Georgia.  Skip Savannah.

I overheard the woman next to me at the bar.  She flew in from Jacksonville to Evac because she has a house up here.  $1500 for economy one way ticket!?!?

Either she's bs'ing or the airline is taking advantage of a dire situation.

It's probably demand.  Not enough flights too many people trying to leave.

Capitalist society for you, even in dire situations

That is sad and despicable.

Also highly illegal to price gouge. Flights are typically crazy expensive if you’re buying the day of or the day before. Cincinnati to Denver as an example leaving in about 5 hours is $8-1,100. Probably a mixture of both tbh but not unrealistic for last minute flights.

The stupidity in the world is staggering. There are people posting about the tornado warnings and the Fort Meyers area tornado and there are people on an Anna Maria Island facebook page calling them liars and saying there are no tornadoes. Also claiming that the photos of damage are AI and that is just fake news. How can people be so detached from reality?
