I'm not a met but I agree with this.  When we talk about shear for tornado production, we're primarily focusing on low-level shear.  When we talk about shear having a negative impact on a hurricane, we're typically talking about shear higher up in the atmosphere.

Even though you're not a met, you sure know more than a few local *cough* met's on tv here.

Geez! I thought hurricane tornadoes were supposed to be small, quick hitters. That looks like an Oklahoma monster.

Some of these tornadoes are coming from essentially discrete supercells, not really even outer bands.  The smaller/short-lived ones tend to occur closer to the hurricane.

Met or not, you have a pretty good grasp on atmospheric sciences and dynamics.

Gaining latitude, I'm not ruling out a Tampa, slightly north hit.

Counting on that right hook to recurve back to the east soon… but certainly the longer it waits, the worse it looks for Clearwater/St Pete/Tampa.

Are any of these tornados hitting populated areas?  rephrase - heavily populated areas.

Fort Meyers was the PDS warning. Looks like went slightly NE of the city, I’m sure there will be video posted.

edit: new PDS warning issued.

Thanks.  I know relatively little compared to some of the non-meteorologists on this and other boards though.  Not at all dismissing people who have the degree as they worked hard to get that and their knowledge goes without saying, but the talent of some of the non-mets is phenomenal.

Trying not to take too much of the thread up with the tornado discussion but Ryan Hall has started his live stream and has been covering it as well.

It’s all legit - post as many updates/alerts as you can/wish

Keep it coming, part of the cane and a few pointed out yesterday could be the KO punch for interior folks.
