Darwin Awards are for rewarding those who advance humankind. Not these dolts. We get the point though.

^Posthumously issued of course

I thought they gave them to folks who eliminate themselves from the gene pool.

Looks like a 1am-ish landfall.  Going to be a very rough night.

You're right - I misread. They are awarded to those folks you describe.

I qualify for ever doubting you J-man. (lol)

The eye has closed again, ERC evident, dry air starts to entrain. All good news

Fwd speed increased, window is closing, thermal differences remain, Div/Conv still strong, wind fields expanding. All bad news

Significant arc towards the north on the end of the satellite loop.  Eye looks open on the NW.

I actually sent a group text out to the ones that stayed to be locked onto the radar. Seeing lots of mesos on the radar.

Kinda looks like a ragged eye re-emerging? Suggest ERC is near complete or is complete. Bad news - gives it a chance to retain its Moxie.

Future radar suggests the eye will be huge and intact as it comes ashore.

Uh oh. I think the erc needed to continue as close as possible to landfall to be a help. If it's done already it's no bueno.

Milton is the opposite of helene. I've never seen a storm form and maintain such a perfect eye so effortlessly.

There’s the tor watch for Florida today already. I don’t recall seeing so many mesos like this from any canes.

Not good. A very old couple will not leave their home near St Armands Circle in SRQ. House was built in 1954. I don't think they will survive let alone the house. Its never had hurricane issues and they don't believe the storm will literally change downtown Sarasota into a warzone. They are friends with my Aunt Fran. I am going to try and speak to them shortly - at this point they should just go west into whatever hotel is open.

Luckily much of that area between Miami and Naples is nature habitat. Driven on 75 there before at night and lots of eyes staring back at you from the waterways 😬
