NEver seen this pattern before, kinda worried now. I've seen them loop around looking for a good spot to drop, but it almost looks like they are trying to rotate around inside the eye. The drop had a pressure of 944.

It looks to me like they took some severe turbulence as the entered the eye. Likely a mesovorticy. I wonder if they are attempting fly in the eye. That may inidicate a serious issue with the aircraft. A mesovorticy nearly killed a crew in Hugo.

Last minute EWRC to help stop strengthening all the way to the coast?

Not likely. I was just wondering if the dry air we had yesterday was both a godsend and a curse. I mean what could we be dealing with right now, but maybe we could have possibly got an ERC? It’s all conjecture and the dry air I’m sure was a net positive, but it can be fun to think of permutations.

Goodnight Helene.  As a kid I was at Normandy Beach for a hurricane. We were evacuated to Point Pleasant at my great aunts house. Like 20 of us. The storm came through mostly at night. Hurricane Belle I think.  Lights went off not much into the evening and the wind howled through the power lines, shutters flapped. Terrifying. I was probably 5 or 6.  Hurricanes at night have to be more terrifying than during the day.
