Meteorologist ClicheVortex2014 Posted May 9 Meteorologist Share Posted May 9 They sent me a video of the rain and thunder they're experiencing... I miss that 😭 Amarillo is not good for casual rain/thunder systems. It's all or nothing here.

We still get rain, heck we got 5.50" in 3 hours 10 days ago, not a single lightning strike or thunder tho. Gotta just make it a couple more months till wet season lol.

They're lucky they didn't get hurt. Doesn't matter if it was an EF-1. Something coming at you even at 40 mph is going to injure you good or worse.

snowlover2
Just posted on FB from Eric Elwell. Another tornado just confirmed in Licking Co bringing the total for this storm to 19 and a total for the year to 55 with Surveys still happening. Record for Ohio in a year is 62. Quote Eric Elwell · Yet another tornado confirmed! Now 19 from May 7th. The latest one was confirmed this morning after NWS surveys wrapped up in Licking County. This latest tornado was rated an EF0 and touched down between St. Louisville and Hanover. The NWS also is still conducting surveys in Warren and Butler Counties to see if there were even more tornadoes in this area, so this number could still increase. There have now been 55 tornadoes in Ohio this year. The record is 62 from 1992.

Chinook
6 hours ago, Central Illinois said: hey where can i find maps like these? This is from https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/lsr/ It plots the storm reports and storm warning polygons. You can choose the time frame. The box in the upper right corner allows you to check or un-check the radar, storm reports, and storm warning polygons. Surprisingly, I was able to find a way to display these two types of warnings (only) for 4 days. I un-checked the storm reports box. Sometimes the system can't handle 1000 storm reports or whatever. It has trouble with plotting the huge amount of snow reports in winter.
snowlover2
Add 2 more tornadoes to the Ohio May 7 total bringing it up to 21 and a year total of 58 which is 4 shy of the record. Quote Eric Elwell 20m · NEW INFO: The National Weather Service this afternoon confirmed two more tornadoes from Tuesday, May 7th. This brings the total for May 7th up to 21 tornadoes. We now have had 58 tornadoes for 2024... the 2nd most tornadoes in one year for Ohio. 1st place is 1992 when there were 62 tornadoes. Here are the additional tornado surveys just set out from last Tuesday: -An EF0 tornado in Warren Co near 3 mi SW Lebanon -An EF1 tornado in Warren Co. in Morrow...
snowlover2
Seems it's back to 56. Quote Eric Elwell 13m · OHIO'S TORNADO COUNT ROSE AGAIN OVER THE WEEKEND: On Saturday, an EF0 tornado briefly touched down in Portage County near the community of Brimfield. The tornado was on the ground just under a half mile. This is on top of the 19 tornadoes confirmed from May the 7th. That brings the statewide total up to 56 tornadoes so far in 2024. This puts us in second place for the most tornadoes in a year! First place is 1992 when 62 tornadoes were reported. *Earlier, I sent out a graphic showing the number at 58. It turns out the NWS wound up combining a couple of tornado reports in Warren County to indicate them as a single tornado versus separate tornadoes. So the total number stayed at 56. Either way, it is still a lot!
