Moderators StretchCT Posted January 27, 2023 Moderators Share Posted January 27, 2023 (edited) Sticking this here because it applies nationwide and has to do with the winter. The article is gifted so you don't have to pay for it. Apparently it's not loading the thumbnail here, so I'll provide a snap. You can check the snow stats at like 60 cities that get snow. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2023/01/26/upshot/city-snowfall-totals.html?unlocked_article_code=k9q8bC-VxgiN_5tKjT3ampPPBqdghrLPIB5pJRTtvcZwgjzpD_F8eOEbyA2VPo6a6jXyBcuCzAnGoDVSVXOmz6j5keYVYtVvS3a9XVIvJWk3PVm3io7a19xASZ4oNi8wZBy9ly1JYcLq_UF_8Tr_NHq8_jqFGGSG6npb1b51Q_2RSmjfjf_3xHKCQoOIX65ZoI1mM04_LbwiN1_-F-JpXGlyiacAafq8K3mHOM_jy4ap6niLkJVpcKT0uqddoGSf6u6wxMRoQWD5zPM4AmNNS_HJPmnYli6mJ71tKNWzT0GE05ubhGPDo29DurLSi3nirgGsCnUdCB1Ke15QtvlWsXSnwFJvhS4vjAZzDRw&smid=share-url Edited January 28, 2023 by StretchCT

Psu1313
After this week, I'm really struggling to see what is going to be working for the East until the closer to the end of February. Greenland block, nowhere to be found. PNA, neutral. AO, trending positive and trying to recover but under constant attack. MJO heading into phase 4 crossing the maritime continent. I'm not shutting the door on a bit storm or two and some cold air, maybe a quick arctic burst working its way in at some point, but I'm really struggling to see how we get any sustained winter moving forward after February 7th or so. Admin MaineJay Posted January 28, 2023 Admin Share Posted January 28, 2023 Hopefully fantasy cold at D7, is just that, fantasy. I've seen days where it stayed below zero all day, but a high temp of -13°, never seen that. Coldest I've been in is -35°, winter 2007-08.

Weird that it only lasts one night and then it's gone, without any snow or rain. 6 hour mins for Southern New England Daytime highs - we've had a few days that I can remember that didn't make it above 0. Single digits is pretty common, but 5 is also pretty extreme 6 hour highs for Sunday (up to 1am Monday technically) 50 degree swing Surface map for Sunday.
