February 16-17, 2024 | NE / Mid-Atlantic Winter Storm

I have 7" on the paved patio just outside the bedroom doors.

I've not gone out to the snowboard yet - has to be more than the pavers though because when I got in last night at 10:45, it was snowing at a decent clip but the pavers had not taken any accum at that point.

Edit - made it to the snowboard. The amount on there is the same as the pavers - guess my beer goggles fooled me last night.

Seven inches it is. VERY easy to move. This last mini band needs to vamoose so I can get out to clean up.

1.5 snow total here in Williamsport MD. NWS had most of northern MD in 5-8 so we under performed on this one. Still looks pretty. I kept my expectations low but geez I didn’t know I needed to keep them this low, lol. It happens.
But hey, our friends to the north in parts of PA really cashed in, congrats!

All about the banding with tgis and other storms. Of course, it just missed to the north, still got 3-4" but nothing like 20-30 mules north. 10-15 south of me got an unch.

I'd estimate between 3 to 3 1/2 inches here in Harleigh near Hazleton. That shed roof was bare yesterday. Definitely a fine, icy Snow and still coming down at 7:25 AM. Steve T-Rex will be out when it comes to a stop, but he may need ski goggles as those fine crystals may be like standing in a bead blaster when those winds kick in. 🥽🦖❄️📏

Got the low end of our forecast at 3 inches in York, PA. Also, I am finding that radar is not always your friend, especially in these higher ratio snow events. Last night we had a virga storm for about 3-4 hours. Now the radar looks clear but we have light snow. Finding that the 700 mb F-Gen maps give a better indication where it might be snowing in these higher ratio snows. Thanks to everyone on this forum for being great teachers and quite entertaining, too!

My heated walkway and driveway are working well this morning! Kidding, they’re not heated. Whatever little snow accumulated on paved surfaces is gone or never happened.
So if I have nothing to shovel, does it count as a snowstorm? 😂 I’m definitely in the “no” column on that one.

Good week around here for those who don’t like snow shoveling. Nothing stuck to the roads or sidewalk with either system. My guess is that’s a reflection of both systems occurring after days with full  late-winter sun where the heat of the day is retained longer in addition to moderate in-event temps. It’s fluffy snow here for sure though. Roughly 2” or so. Bit of a disappointment but the radar was clearly favoring our north when I went to bed last night. Fourth system under 5” this year. Nickle and diming our way to the average.
