sterlings AFD

Brief high pressure builds in early Friday behind the exiting
clipper before a second clipper system approaches and passes to
the south. Currently the low is progged to move through
overnight Friday into early Saturday morning, taking advantage
of the lower temperatures to bring another round of rain and snow
to the region. Snow accumulation will be sensitive to how far
south of us the low tracks, but guidance has been trending on
the cold side. For now the best chance for accumulation is along
climatologically favored regions west of the metros, but snow is
possible further east.

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Any lingering precipitation will be exiting Saturday morning as the
low pressure system quickly moves offshore. Some upslope snow
showers may continue through the day though. Gusty west-northwest
winds will be found in the system`s wake. High temperatures will
range from the mid 30s to mid 40s (except below freezing in the
higher elevations), and there should be some breaks of sun by
afternoon, especially east of the mountains. Below freezing
temperatures are expected areawide Saturday night.

Had seemed that way for a while at least... the cold air seems to want to hang around next week so I think there could be one more possibility before the pattern resets.

Nice of @MaineJay to make a new thread to validate my opinion

@Wtkidz @1816 maybe a VA special? Here's a hoping!

Guidance is so all over the place. Nova probably in a decent spot. Here in sw VA we are tucked on the east side of the mountains so most of the time anything coming from the west skips over us with the downsloping. This feels likely to me. I'd be happy with a coating sat morning honestly. But not holding my breath.

I wouldn't expect much from a system like this. Generally not much moisture makes it over the WV mountains and it moves too quickly to accumulate much at rates that will probably average under 0.5"/hr.

That said, I think our biggest snow this winter was only like 4 inches, so this could possibly challenge that.

Looking like more of a storm for northern VA, not so much for SW Va, but we have had a few pleasant surprises over the years.  Not hanging my hat on anything, but would not be surprised to see a little snow Sat morning.

Actually, our biggest snow was 2.5" on Jan 15-16. Really wouldn't take a lot to top that.
