The shifts are almost always north and have been with every snow event in the area this year. It's just what the models do.

 IMHO it isn't necessarily the SLP that comes north but the QPF shield almost always goes further NW than modeled.

From what I've seen it's the confluence relaxes as we get within the 48 hour range. I'm not sure why this happens but the models are notorious for it. We'll see if the case this time.
