HVSNOWSTORM
Gfs is not the model I'd be trusting with this kind of complicated setup. Hopefully the cmc and Euro are just too north tho. Need the northern piece to run ahead provide some confluence, then have another northern stream piece drop in the backside and pump the storm. That or just northern stream runs ahead provides confluence and the southern stream just amps itself up.

JDClapper
Got a little visual clustering beginning to show up on 0z EPS. Id say 33-40% chance of measuring in NCPA, a slight increase.

I can totally handle winter if it's only one week per month of cold and snow - and the rest is warm. Haven't had a clipper here in a couple winters it seems, or at least feels like we haven't.

Wtkidz
Well another episode of how the models turn. I do not think this will be figured out till Saturday and not everyone will be happy. My hopes are not but I am usually on the border, latest AFD from LWX. Cloud cover and rainfall, accompanying a low pressure system, on Monday will allow for cooler temperatures. Numbers will still be slightly above normal for February as we may see a southeast to southerly component to the wind ahead of the low. Rainfall appears to be likely with amounts probably in the one half to one inch range. On the back side of the departing low pressure system late Monday through Monday night, rain could mix with or change over to a brief period of snow, mainly across the Mason-Dixon region and in the western mountains. For now, it is only a slight chance of snow mixing in as it will depend on the exact track of the low, exit speed of the low, and how much cold air can filter into the region behind the low. Tuesday is expected to be cooler than recent days with a gusty breeze as cold advection continues, despite any precipitation coming to an end from west to east. Highs near average on Tuesday. High pressure will continue to build in from the west Tuesday and into Wednesday. The European model wants to send a piece of mid- level energy our way on Wednesday that could bring us a brief rain or snow shower in places, but other models want to bring us that energy late next week.
Admin MaineJay Posted February 8 Author Admin Share Posted February 8 The players in this storm, according to the 6z "chong" GFS, are here currently. 4 days later, this is where they end up. Number 3 has really got on its horse the last few GFS runs, almost catching the main trof. 2 and 4 haven't provided the dig until a bit too late in the run. Expect further "adjustments" as small changes have big effects with stream interactions. Bringing the north branch at the right time, place, and depth to provide cold is tricky. 1 1
Admin MaineJay Posted February 8 Author Admin Share Posted February 8 GEFS members. It's not crazy to think that there is a bit more spread than depicted in any ensemble suite, they can at times be underdispersed.

WeatherFlash
This is gonna bounce like wild until we get consensus on whether the northern stream outruns for a confluence setup or we phase. Anyones guess. Cmc and euro showing more of a phase makes me wanna lean that direction though.

If you catch the ball you gain an extra player. Edited February 8 by Wtkidz 1

Your options are either garlic butter or tomato GRAVY - both are served on the side. You must "dress" your own pasta where I come from.

Hopefully the 12z model runs can boost our spirits. The GFS is the only one that keeps me in the game, but I think someone up your way on north will jackpot on this.
