Philly at 1.6 looks ok as they were more like 1-3. Trenton at 1.4 is good. Northern Monmouth looks good as does most of NNJ and NEPA. The >12" in CT areas are only off by a few miles. RTC3-LAST CHANCE Posted February 13 Share Posted February 13 Post game, trigger for me that this was going to have serious juice was the winds. If forecasted winds are up there, you never get weak sauce winter storms. About 3 miles from me at lower elevation, spotter had -12.3. I did a pathetic, post storm condensed rule thang and had just over 10, so that 12.3 seems reasonable. Stretch was wondering last night about final totals with the speed of the storm. Ground was whitening, maybe an inch or so by 1am. Storm over by 9:30 . Intensity never wavered at all; just kept increasing. Ground was whitening, maybe an inch or so by 1am. Storm over by 9:30 . Intensity never wavered at all; just kept increasing. So those totals in that window means a ridiculous storm per hour average of around 1.5!! Yeah its been so long since inch an hour rates I thought they only lasted an hour or two. We had a couple of hours this morning at 2" rates. Looks like it started 7-8z and ended at 17z. Plus we had 12:1 to 15:1 ratios. So ten hours, eleven inches. Pretty hard snowfall. So nearly all the 24 hr out models are too far south. The 48 and 72 are too far north. But in reality, their spread of snow, the width of the track of snow, was too wide. Right now the 48 hr one I'm looking at closest is the ICON. The two problem areas though are west of Harrisburg and north of I90 in Mass. I like the 5.3 in LI which I think is fairly representative overall, with the pink 6 being on the north shore. Immediately NW of Philly is another soft spt as there are 3-6 there. Philly at 1.6 looks ok as they were more like 1-3. Trenton at 1.4 is good. Northern Monmouth looks good as does most of NNJ and NEPA. The >12" in CT areas are only off by a few miles. The cape looks good. RI looks good. North shore of MA not so good but that goes into the north of I90 problem area. Really agree with this. I do think the short rangers did exceptionally well , but that can be territorial. They held their ground with the high amounts we saw here- no bailing south and east.
