Upper troughing will remain dominant across the eastern two-thirds
of the country through Thursday and Friday. Predominantly zonal flow
is expected again on Thursday, so another cold, but dry day is
expected. High temperatures are expected to be in the 30s for most,
with 20s in the mountains. By Thursday night into Friday, upper
ridging will start to build along the West Coast, which will drive
shortwave troughing southward from Upper Great Lakes toward the Ohio
Valley and Mid-Atlantic. This could bring another chance for snow
locally. A number of ensemble members show a light snow event, with
others showing no snow at all, and a few outliers a larger snowfall
event. This event is still almost a week away, so there`s plenty of
time to monitor trends.
