For a guy who just came down with Covid you don't seem to be missing a beat - impressive.  I thought I was doing well sipping some tea and just reading the forums back when I had it.

Energy level isn't bad.  Tissue level is low though.  This time around was completely different. Just a bad cold.  Poking in and out of here between emails and meetings.

Props to him.  Hope he has a mild case of it.  When I get it, its usually like this (with Hulk being the covid and Loki is me)

That was the first time for me.  It put me in bed for 2 days with fever, chills, aches- I couldn't even read or watch Netflix.  Then two days of normal flu symptoms.

The only reason I even tested for this was because my wife has to go to chemo and I don't want to go with her if I have covid.

Crazy how run to run variations on the GFS. I know. It's been said time and time again. Wasn't there some kind of upgrade to the GFS the past 2-3 years? Seems the same to me. I digress.

Why let a little pesky correct detail get in the way of a good narrative. 🙂

I've had it for about a week now. Energy levels are decimated for me. I've never been so tired in my life. Hope you feel better and I hope everything turns out well with your wife. Godspeed

I still remember ST, at golf outing #1 telling RTC and I about how badly he disagreed with the brass at NOAA vis a vie "future upgrades". I can't recall every bit of his nerd talk, but I do know he felt that the GFS would never catch the Euro with the approach that was decided on.

Maybe it was when they were going to the fv3? I remember on TT they had GFS and para GFS. Para was less stable imo over the month or two.. just bounced more then the old. Ever since then, feels lime a dartboard at times. That was at least 3 yrs ago.

I wonder if there are plans to use AI to make weather prediction better. GFS performed decently last year with La Niña.

So if the threat is there Friday let’s say, should it be taken seriously? What is the threshold?

I'd start taking the threat to about 65% Sunday. Before that, 40%

Already is. I've posted the output a couple times. It's called GraphCast and is maintained on the ECMWF site

I'm very bullish on this time pd.

Why?

Well because the MJO is still favorable, the teles of NAO, AO are entirely favorable, PNA is trending favorable.

Also we have antecedent cold air.

I'm already at 60% - if not more

Well GFS with a widespread NADS inland.. baby steps. CMC precip shield falls apart hitting the apps, and then is a late bloomer off the coast, giving the coastal plain some white.

I haven't heard or used NADS in years!  I'd gladly take NADS.  When was our last clipper anyway?  2017?

Ask RTC. Last time he came to Hbg to play golf, we went to the casino and he walked up on me when the machine (called Beer Haus) was going berzerk with payout (stopped at $660). He busted on me for doing a little seat dance as the Free Spins kept cranking off. I laughed the whole way to the payout window (true story) My initial wager was $40/ for the record

I also play blackjack - up 1,800 over the past 12 years ( I strictly keep the funds entirely separate), so not too bad.

And NEVER take me to any bingo game unless you like to see me win the jackpot.

Some are born with looks and brains - others, like me, rely on luck and pluck
