Wind is howling, it's windy, pouring, etc. Not a good beach day!

I dunno, playing badminton on the beach would be more of a challenge.

Wind gusts already bad on immediate south shore of LI - if this is any indication this early in the game, its going to be very bad across LI.  I don't hear any planes landing at JFK either, I wonder if they are already being diverted.

I work in a Suffolk County school district and they've already asked everyone to shut down their PCs before leaving - just in case. I've been here more than a year and this is the first I've heard that request. Here's hoping there's power and heat in the a.m.

Weather.gov just upped the gusts to 70 mph.  Was 50's earlier.  Unsure if we'll see 70, but seems t hey're expecting very strong gusts.

Thought I saw 70s on a model posted here a day or two ago. I was more surprised Upton was only saying 30mph for so long.

You don't want the entire beach to yourself? :classic_tongue:

Rainy and soggy here, without much wind. Temps held at 33 for quite a while, but it's up to 35 now. While it hasn't been downpours, it filled the puddles and ditches (though the river hadn't risen yet when I was past a couple hours ago).

I'd rather have snow, but we were quite dry last year and can really use moisture any way we get it. It would do the river good to have a decent flood, though I doubt this will be enough to do it.

40 knots = 46.0312 mph

50 knots = 57.539 mph

mph = knots * 1.15

Those are sustained.  These are the gusts. NAM not backing down. AFD mentioned there's not much of an inversion so the winds will mix down. I'd knock 10 off these though.

Thanks.  I don't have pivotal weather plus, so can't get the gusts.  I can see it spiking into the 50's but no higher.  Just my opinion.  I could be wrong.

RAP has had a good handle on the winds to our west so far. But it even has some 60s hitting the Island.

This is where I grew up.  I remember several floods where school had to shut down because people couldn't get out of their houses.  Normally its in the spring.

That's pretty much this entire area.  It usually floods to Passaic ave which is on the right/east side of the airport. Some houses are on little hills and stay dry, while the streets are all underwater.
