January 9-10, 2024 | NE / Mid-Atlantic Winter Storm

Penn State

Recommended Posts

First snow showers starting up here. Probably about an inch or two before it switches to rain here in the valley. Not looking forward to tonight with the high wind warning at all.

Can someone get a copy of the predicted wind gust maps over 4 or 6 hours for NJ?

Snow reports of 2-9" for the hills from Washington County, MD to Garrett county, MD. What a mess. Tractor trailers we're off the road all over the mountain.

All rain now here.

Tried searching for it because I know I asked this some time back but can't find the post.

If I want to see how high the winds will be for my area, which one of the many many choices for wind do I use?

Can't see how you can say that when this is closest to Euro actually. Here's current. Look how badly GG failed, there is NO snow in W MD/ NWVAimage.thumb.png.bf9bdb5a9259bf659e2f121225ac1ebd.png

925 is the closest on that list- that is still over 2K FEET above the surface  2m-10m is the level where we feel most winds

those are upper air winds. You'll be looking for 10m (AGL - above ground level) winds under the surface tab

Edit: 2m, not 10m

Word has it that NAM is on the Mitchell Report.  Cannot confirm though.
