I just finished clearing the driveway.  I wish every snow storm was this easy to clear.  Removing 8" of fluffy powder is so much easier than moving 3" of concrete snow. 

Cognac was my drink of choice after getting a lesson in alcohol freezing temps from @jbrumberg.   It is currently +25F, not -25F, but I'd rather be safe than sorry, so I went with the high alcohol content beverage.

@TheRex-  A prudent choice.

I on the other hand am taking a risk chilling these IPA's for dinner tonight with 22ºF the ambient temperature.........  And I have a glass waiting for them in the freezer.  Careful, careful timing is required; but a beer slushy would work rather nicely.

ohh, i love those lost sailor IPA's..they do have a kick % wise,  BBC makes pretty good beers!

@tool483-  We are blessed with all the successful microbreweries (and semi- micro like BBC beers) in our area.  The composition and pH of the local waters makes for making the best beers and surprisingly bagels.  There must be ~50 successful micro breweries in western MA and some are located around Holyoke/Easthampton.

Today drove out from western Suffolk to Eastern Suffolk earlier.  Roads/grass were not covered much, but Eastern had more slushy roads and a bit more ground cover, about 3/4"

We picked up another inch last night bringing our storm total to 9".  Our forecast from NWS was for 2"-6", so this storm overperformed in my area.  Maybe we will get some sun today to light up the new snowfall.

Being right on the forecasted rain/snow line here in Northern Bucks played out just as expected:  we had some really great periods of pounding snow on Saturday (really messed up the roads for a bit in the middle of the day).  By afternoon the sleet moved in followed by heavy rain later in the evening.  My son and I drove up to Elk Mt. early Sunday morning (thank you I think to PARD for clearing the roads up there for us I gather!) for a great day of skiing.  It snowd there all day.  Here is a shot out the window while we were suiting up in the lodge.  It looked like this most of the day.  

I know all eyes in the mid-Atlantic/NE are on the next storm on its way and its potential impacts... but I would love to see a post storm analysis of how the various models did vs how it actually played out.  A couple of questions I have and would love to see any insight from the experts here:

1. just a day out the models were still going back and forth from run to run it seems, at least for my SE PA area which was right on the line.  Was there any model that predicted better than others after all was said and done?  Would be so interesting to go back and compare radar returns with model output etc. 

2. I was checking the radar throughout the day on Sunday and I was surprised to see how far North the snow was extending and how much specifically those of you in Northern VT was getting.  I don't remember any of the models showing that.  Am I wrong or was that a surprise?

Elk Mt Lodge about 8:30 Sunday morning:

I live near Burlington, VT.  The models early on had us too far north to see much more than an inch or so.  If I remember correctly, on Thursday the Canadian models showed us getting snow and it seemed the others may have followed on thereafter.  It was a nice surprise around here.  I do have to say, the higher elevations have done quite well up this way since Nov 1, but the snowpack got decimated with warm rain in mid-December.  I feel like the pattern this winter has been kind to our area so far.

I was killing some time between stops this afternoon. I stopped to take a picture at RDG airport (183 & 222), halfway between RDG and my house(yellow line I drew Friday), and IMBY. In that order… here they are.

@RTC3-LAST CHANCE These three pics are within 7 miles as the crow flies. This is typical of what I see in most storms. Microclimate or just raw luck? 

Highest elevations between pictures is a “peak” haha at 700’. Couple 500-600 hills between. Another 6 miles north past me we got the AT at 1400-1600

MBY - 400’ even my front yard in the sun doesn’t have exposed grass blades yet.
