We all knew it is low, but this low, ugh.  I’m guessing the coverage will decrease even further by Christmas in some spots in the east.

Well, those are appropriate colors.

Since 1948 - first 1" snows in Bridgeport for last 75 years. 

• 1 in October, 15 in November, 41 in December, 12 in January and 5 in February.
• Roughly a 22% chance, 1 in 5ish, that an inch hasn't fallen by Christmas.

Since 1949 with 4 years of data missing, - first 1" snows in White Plains 

• 2 in October, 9 in November, 31 in December, 5 in January

Since 1905 in Hartford with 1996-2002 missing

• 2 in October, 39 in November, 58 in December, 7 in January, 1 in February .
• Out of 109 years of Hartford data, only 8 years did it not snow an inch by January. 
• 7 of those December snows were 12/26 or later.

This was the snow on ground for Christmas Day.

 

And the departure from normal

TWC has it as the least snowiest since 2003, but it's not clear if that's just when the "records" were being kept cause 2023 beat 2003 by quite a bit.  NOHRSC website goes back to 2002, which is clearly higher.
