December 10-12, 2023 | NE / Mid-Atlantic Winter Storm

Penn State

Recommended Posts

We hit a high of 52F at 11 am and light rain started at 12:20 pm and currently 50F.  It looks like moderate rain is falling in central VT but headed this way.  We aren't expecting a changeover to snow here until 1 am.

SNJ coming in with some impressive radar estimates of over 2".  Pretty much since 10am, so in 4 hours.

Wunderground may not capture the particular spots on the radar, but area is showing 1.5-2"

Interesting that the radar estimate for mby doesn't nearly capture the now .4" of rain.

Per neighbor's PWS, temp down to 53F, winds still out of the south, but they have abated...looking for a more westerly trajectory. Looks like it's still on the other side of I-89 currently.

The wind changed in the last hour from a south wind to a north west wind and the temp dropped 5 degrees in that hour.  Currently down to 46 here.  Hopefully you see the same wind shift soon.

18Z HRRR showing a swath for 4" of rain starting in CT, across RI, southern Boston and up into Maine.  I hope this won't cause too many problems for those areas.  That is a lot of rain.

15z SREF really dried things up compared to the last few runs after the changeover to snow with over 1/2" less qpf in the form of snow. But it seems to be colder earlier and/or higher ratios since there is only 1" less snow...I'll take that trade any day.
