Dec. 9-12, 2023 | Potential Winter Storm

Possibly a big over correction on the GFS with the storm being it had it way east last run. It was close to being a big time storm for me. We will see there lots of runs left. Possibly need the system to slow down a bit for the system to track more east.

I made this post about this potential winter storm on November 24 in the LR Winter thread using the BSR.

And to watch how it played out in the Bering Sea has a very high corration to the Euro & A.I.

We know it’s getting juicy when @Grace mentions BSR and correlation! 🥳

It's just a hunch but I think organic is going to be more reliable than the models long and medium range this year. By leaps and bounds.

FWIW, the AI (machine learning models) for a time period between Sun 10 Dec 2023 12 UTC (T+156) to Mon 11 Dec 2023 00 UTC (T+168).   Today's runs show LP up the west side of the Apps, or there about, on all 4 AI models.

12Z GFS also stays way North. Not what I expected ffom 12z models after the 0Z model runs. If Euro does the same it will become worrisome even this far out. Still plenty of time for big adjustments, though.

Yeah not a great look. On to the euro.

My take:

BSR would suggest further SE solution than currently modeled but it's not a often a 1:1 correlation so that's not all that unusual.

A.I. seems like most of those products are further SE as well.

Teleconnections would seem to support more of a NW possibility like today's runs...east GLC.

Therefore, maybe take the middle road. 🫤
