Reports of the Hudson Line and Amtrak line being washed out near Croton on Hudson

I was looking at some of the PWS located in the Westchester area and I found rain rates of 6" an hour going on at the moment. That is a ton of water coming down quickly. I can't even imagine that heavy rate of rain.

East side of the Green Mountains took it on the chin here in southern VT. Lot of road closures over there. Images of Londonderry and Weston. Sounds like things are going to continue to go downhill too today...

Be safe up there TJ, it got ugly quick down here. Those downpours can be extremely heavy.

Woke up at 2am with rain dumping down...been waiting for the fire tone to go off, but been silent so far for us. See how the today and night go....hopefully stays quiet. 🤞

We've only had 1.34" of rain so far and much of that was from the first storm that moved through yesterday evening.  We had light rain most of the night and the heavy stuff is still to our south.

I was able to convince my wife to work from home today because I told her last night that things will probably be ok for going to work in the morning, getting home will be the problem.  She works in Waterbury and I said flooding usually doesn't treat towns well that have the the word "Water" in their name.  Irene was not kind to Waterbury.

BTV's latest Forecast Discussion.  They mention northern NY.  The radar is showing heavy rain in the Syracuse area.

Quote
NEAR TERM /THROUGH TUESDAY/...
As of 1025 AM EDT Monday...

Forecast remains largely on track. Noticed a potent 572 Dm low
trying to close off over Rochester, NY with the upper level
trough increasingly taking on a negative tilt along with upper
level diffluence over our region. The 12z HRRR seems to have
picked up on this development and backs/blossoms the
precipitation over the populated Winooski River valley from
Montpelier to Burlington through the afternoon hours. WPC has
also highlighted the concern in their Mesoscale Discussion 0688.
In addition, WPC now has most of VT under the High Day 1
Excessive Rainfall Outlook, which means that widespread flash
floods are likely with significant to potentially catastrophic
impacts. The existing Flash Flood Warnings across northern VT
might need to be updated/upgraded in severity. Stay tuned and
always remember turn around, don`t drown.

OMG....woke up to what seemed like intense rain at 2am....just checked neighbors PWS and it clocked in at 1.5"/hr at its peak at that time. Wow!

Good article on the damage in VT so far.  Entire towns isolated.  I'm pretty familiar with most of these towns that stretch from Stratton to Killington.  Been going to Ludlow every winter for 20 years.

At 5 pm, we have received 2.2" of rain over the last 23 hours.  After the initial downpour yesterday, we have not had rain come down very heavy.  We are currently at a rain rate 0f 0.25" an hour and that is how it has been over the last few hours.  Tonight's forecast is for 1" to 2" more and then up to a 1/2" tomorrow.  It looks like we won't have flash flooding issues in my area but rivers will be rising and it won't be good for some people.

Thanks @StretchCT for the Twitter updates you post.

Another one from Ludlow at the bottom of Okemo road. Horrible.

This one is even more rough. I want to see downtown a little more
