Isn't the shear supposed to be weak in the southern US by now? Nope. Fwiw... actually part of Amarillo's CWA. Southeasternmost county.
Meteorologist ClicheVortex2014 Posted July 6, 2023 Meteorologist Share Posted July 6, 2023 Gonna be a busy night for the Texas Panhandle. Plenty of shear and elevated instability to keep it going.
Iceresistance
I know it was on the first of this month and it's not here but Canada had an EF-4 tornado

ElectricStorm
Had some good rain this morning, should get a nice line here tomorrow morning and this pattern could continue for the next several days
Meteorologist ClicheVortex2014 Posted July 6, 2023 Meteorologist Share Posted July 6, 2023 NAM has a worrying scenario here tomorrow. Got definite supercell potential on a west-east oriented outflow boundary
Chinook
Later tonight- SPC has an enhanced risk in the Plains. Some very strong shear will be in place and most likely affect a few supercells various storms in eastern Colorado over to Kansas. The SPC mesoanalysis says the supercell composite could be 20-28 near the Colorado/Kansas border. The Goodland radar is still non-operational! Meteorologist ClicheVortex2014 Posted July 7, 2023 Meteorologist Share Posted July 7, 2023 (edited) Latest severe warning in SE CO is for 80 mph winds/3" hail. Moving southeast at 50 mph per the warning. Not surprised... it's been well forecast. Edited July 7, 2023 by ClicheVortex2014
Meteorologist ClicheVortex2014 Posted July 7, 2023 Meteorologist Share Posted July 7, 2023 (edited) Just realized there's an instability gradient south of the current supercells. Either they follow the expected storm motion based on the winds and die out, or they follow the instability into the western Oklahoma Panhandle and their strength mostly persists… probably messing with the severe potential later Friday. RAP chooses the former, but that doesn't make much sense to me unless there’s significant changes or RAP is misinterpreting the environment. We'll see. Edit: Maybe we’re seeing something like this where there’s an effective warm front pushing northeast and the severe potential will follow close behind Edited July 7, 2023 by ClicheVortex2014

Meteorologist ClicheVortex2014 Posted July 7, 2023 Meteorologist Share Posted July 7, 2023 12z Amarillo sounding looks pretty nasty. Decent low-level moisture, solid EML, and impressive deep-layer shear for July
ElectricStorm
Still on and off showers and thunderstorms here. The line tonight probably won't do much but this has been a great storm day so far
Iceresistance
Storms are exploding in front of the main line and moving east, this means the time of the storms expected to get to Central Oklahoma decreases.

ElectricStorm
So far the line is holding up nicely. Don't want anything extreme here of course but a good low end severe storm would be nice
ElectricStorm
Watch extended east to include me now although the line is no longer severe warned for now. Should be a good rain though and the thunder is picking up

NWOhioChaser
Once again….northern part runs out of juice, southern part maintains. Nice dying line coming through but jokes on it, it formed far enough west so it still gives us something before it dies completely. Nice to get a nice shower today.
