Confirmed tornado near Samnorwood (Lubbock area). Isn't the shear supposed to be weak in the southern US by now? Nope.

Fwiw... actually part of Amarillo's CWA. Southeasternmost county.

Later tonight- SPC has an enhanced risk in the Plains. Some very strong shear will be in place and most likely affect a few supercells various storms in eastern Colorado over to Kansas. The SPC mesoanalysis says the supercell composite could be 20-28 near the Colorado/Kansas border.  The Goodland radar is still non-operational!

Just realized there's an instability gradient south of the current supercells. Either they follow the expected storm motion based on the winds and die out, or they follow the instability into the western Oklahoma Panhandle and their strength mostly persists… probably messing with the severe potential later Friday. RAP chooses the former, but that doesn't make much sense to me unless there’s significant changes or RAP is misinterpreting the environment. We'll see.

Edit: Maybe we’re seeing something like this where there’s an effective warm front pushing northeast and the severe potential will follow close behind

Once again….northern part runs out of juice, southern part maintains. Nice dying line coming through but jokes on it, it formed far enough west so it still gives us something before it dies completely. Nice to get a nice shower today.
