.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Areas of very light snow/flurries are beginning to fill-in
across the region as the mid/upper level low pivots in from the
NW and broad-scale forcing increases. As we progress into the
afternoon, particularly mid afternoon and beyond, expect the
activity to become more convective in nature, owing to
tremendously deep mixing and a steepening of the LL lapse rates
and development of some LL instby. The particulars of this setup
are still on track as described below, and expect fairly
widespread coverage as we progress toward 21z, especially in WC
and central OH.

High temps creep into the mid/upper 30s in-between the snow
showers. However, brief augmentation to the LL thermal profile
is expected as the snow showers move through any one particular
area, so anticipate that air temps may oscillate one or several
times throughout the daytime period.

PREVIOUS DISCUSSION...
These snow showers are being driven by an upper/mid level low
and compact vorticity maximum. The timing of this feature will
be optimal for initiating and maintaining these showers into the
early afternoon. Throughout the afternoon, steep low-level
lapse rates will help to intensify these showers with the
greatest period of intensity/concern between 3 and 8 pm.
Forecast soundings are quite impressive during this time frame,
with cloud tops between 9-11kft. These heights suggest the
strongest showers would bring intense snowfall rates with rapid
drops in visibility as they move through. A few rumbles of
thunder will also be possible in the strongest showers. Some
locations may miss out on this shower activity, but areas that
see one or more showers, would observe quick accumulations of a
half inch or more.

With regards to specific impacts, the sudden drops in visibility
for travelers on area roadways could result in brief periods of
hazardous travel. With the March sun angle, road temperatures
are likely to be in the upper 40s to lower 50s which is not
optimal for accumulating snow on roadways, even if snowfall
rates are indeed locally heavy. If intense snow showers can
persist into the early evening hours, road temperatures could
become more susceptible to favoring hazardous conditions.
An SPS will be issued this morning to provide a heads up to
those traveling today.
