Are we assuming 10:1 ratios with this one?

That's going to depend on where you are.  Albany posted in their AFD this morning that they are expecting 16:1 down to 12:1 with the higher ratios earlier.  I think this makes sense given the vertical velocities coming through earlier before the "warmer" air shows.  I had also posted earlier a map of those vv's and the -8 line through CT which generates pretty big snow ratios.  On the other hand... the DGZ is way up there and there's plenty of time for flakes to either be blown apart, or even come together more if they are wet enough and clingy.

Here's the Kuchera ratio for the GFS during the heaviest period.  Basically 84 north is 13+

And for the NAM 11+

NAM 3k trend - not sure if its Morristown but that data point in Morris County spread  from 0.8 to 5.8 isn't cool a day before.

I'm now on the inclement weather committee and drew the short straw to leave the recorded message.  going with delayed opening for our Morristown, Florham Park and Newark locations.  10am open

not liking the hit or miss spread at all

That's fair.  Sleep in and be safe.

Can’t link the gif from my phone, at least it’s more of a west>east movement. Keeping more people in the snow game.

Is it just me or is that precip shield retrograding off the Atlantic kind of cool looking. Looks to bring in a slug right off the water into SNE/NH/ME

Yes I know long range HRRR, just an interesting little feature.

This is the weirdest shit. A fight between sleet/sn mix and mostly snow, 41 degrees. Wth is going on?

Its melting immediately, but ... wth.

That melting should actually help surface temps drop.  Sucks up a lot of heat.
