February 27-28, 2023 | NE/Mid-Atl Winter Storm

6.5" total. 18" snowpack.

4” new up here in the woods.  Approximately 18” pack also with that nasty 6” of frozen hard pack base underneath.

A perfect late winter beauty out there today, heading for 40°f under blue skies between storms.

After looking at local reports, we received a total of 3" from this storm.  Not too bad considering we were on the northern fringe and the forecast was for less than an inch. This storm brings my snow total for the season past 50".

This is the 48 hour snow total for 3/1 at 0z.  Snow maps were taken from models reflect the same 48 hours.  All model maps are in spoiler, starting with the majors.  Overdone (or too far south) enough to be taken out of contention were the GFS, FV3, HRRR, NSSL, ARW.  SREF was way overdone in MA, underdone on the southern edge. Ukie was underdone on the southern edge but kinda had the general idea in PA and Upstate NY.  National Blend did ok, but. missed RI and some of Upstate NY and PA.

That leaves the GEM which missed VT but got the NH/ME areas well and NY/PA.  A little much on the southern edge but 4 in motown and 2.3 in Islip were pretty good. RGEM was underdone in some key areas.

And then the NAM which I choke on as I write this.  It over did the Berks and Greens, but nailed RI.  Missed Boston but got ME/NH, NY and PA
