Kinda, I think, seems like the models had a weak lowv pressure near there that worked up the coast until it took over. Mostly seems a little deeper. NAM3 is too warm at H8 Hires FV3 performing better here. 1

How is nam that far off
Admin MaineJay Posted January 22, 2023 Admin Share Posted January 22, 2023 Some lightning associated with the weak low on the SC coast. Best pressure falls still there.

My best guess is there's some kind of evapocooling (is this a word?) going on that the NAM isn't picking up on.
Admin MaineJay Posted January 22, 2023 Admin Share Posted January 22, 2023 Low level easterly flow is evident on radar near the NC/SC coastal border. 4

Admin MaineJay Posted January 22, 2023 Admin Share Posted January 22, 2023 Hires FV3 and the NAM can't get their stories straight. Guess a split the difference approach is most prudent.

She looks beefier on radar and sure see the reflection on the coast. Someone poke this storm and make it do what it should have. 3

MDBlueridge
Currently 30.4F here with a DP of 27. We've had such a low snow winter I'm very interested to see what form precip falls. Normally by now I'm ready to move off the hill.
JDClapper
I think 12k NAM is a tad closer to reality on the H8 temps now with the 12z run, than from what I was seeing earlier of MJ posting. Maybe reality is a few miles colder, but it's close. 3k NAM too, maybe a little overdone with the warmth in SWPA. 2
