The NWS was calling for 4-6 inches of snow for Columbus on Wednesday morning. They downgraded that to 2-4 pretty late in the day. Ultimately the writing was on the wall for central Ohio by mid-morning yesterday.

Maybe I’m wrong, but weren’t most of the models pretty clear that Central Ohio was going to get too warm to get much of anything at least 24 hours before the event?

If you were up pretty late on Tues. night just before snowfall began, all of the short range modeling (HRRR/RAP/NAM) showed a solid 4-6" across central Ohio

SREF Tracker Comparison.

Snow totals are for 1/25 and 1/26 combined.  Finding totals for the "smaller" sites is a challenge at times.  The unkonwn amounts are marked with a (?). For yesterday's minor event, I added around 0.5" to some OH sites that didn't have any reports yesterday and marked them with a (~).  If anyone has good data for the amount marked with a (?) or if anything is way off, let me know.  But for the majority of the locations, yesterday's amount were pretty minor.  Actual is bold in varying colors, lol.

The SREF values were given for 1/27 12Z.

Toledo (TOL)- 4.1/4.2/5.6/4.9    5.3

Cleveland (CLE)- 3.4/4.0/3.7/3.0      1.8

Youngstown (YNG)- 2.7/3.3/3.0/3.1    3.5

Findlay (FDY)- 3.8/3.8/4.5/3.3     ~3.5

Marion, OH (MNN)- 3.2/3.4/3.3/2.6     ~2.0

I can verify that Findlay was close to those numbers...call it somewhere around 3.5" from my vantage point.

Few whiffs but overall they did quite well I’d say. Thanks for taking the time to put that together 🙂
