StLweatherjunkie
Well this looks good ... Feeling like double digit totals are likely for MBY today especially after seeing reports in Nebraska ... Can I over perform the official forecast? I circled this storm in green on the 00z Thursday analysis: Since the system was sampled as it tracked across the east coast of Asia on Tuesday/Wednesday it's plausible that older runs were better. EPS means made a substantial jump (from north IN to south IL) with the 12z Thursday run when it moved offshore so take trends since 00z Thursday with a grain of salt. Assuming the above analysis isn't completely false then I'd expect a ~996mb low within the green oval at 12z Thursday morning. Posting here so that I can come back on Thursday and double-check. Was a few mb too deep with my guess, but the location was spot on:
StLweatherjunkie
I realize I'm posting to myself at 530 am on a weekday, but dang the HREF is juicy ... Non-zero chance for 2ft up the hill.

EDIT: EFI values approaching 1 and SoT >5 means this is probably going to break some daily or perhaps monthly snowfall records in portions of Nebraska/Colorado. Only checked North Platte, but they indeed set a daily precip/snowfall record and it wasn't by a small margin ... with other nearby locations picking up around 20" I think it's safe to say most of the area highlighted by the EFI/SoT had a record snowfall yesterday. Pghsnow
Looks like at this point my best chance for snow is tomorrows squalls.
Meteorologist MidwestWX Posted January 19, 2023 Meteorologist Share Posted January 19, 2023 I've managed between 3 to 4" of fluff on top of the glacier. Now I just want some cold air to return… (and it should...)
StLweatherjunkie
About a foot of fresh snow so far ... It's still coming down. As of 5 pm the office picked up 11.4" breaking the old daily record of 9.6". Based on the radar, I wouldn't be surprised if the midnight observation comes in close to 16" and there's actually more snow south of town! Quite a storm ... Here's a picture of my dog enjoying a stick in the fresh snow around noon today: 3
