January 7-8, 2023 | Sneaky snow threat

Just figured I would pop in to show upper levels. Looks like the jet sneaks a little precip because of the left exit region coming through but the main energy is still too far west (rockies/ North TX) and too much confluence squeezes the initial wave. Later the jet buckles a bit and allows the right entrance region to come in play allowing some precip to blossom but looks a bit too late for most of the Ohio valley. May be able to squeak out some snow east of the apps if the cold holds enough. Storm then gets going off the coast. Marginal air overall will be tough to get something west of the apps. East of them we are relying on cold holding on.

Did models just flip on this? I remember GFS on it's own with snowfall in the OV and it appears to have jumped ship but the other models are starting to show snow now.

The Gfs is wayyyy north now, oddly.
