junior
Better than a clipper. That thing wanted to ride the apps but the confluence kept it down. I see one culprit with this system. If you loop the h5 between runs, the vort is having a hard time deciding what to do in Alaska.

cperry29
Too much cold air on the CMC. Shoved everything south and east as @Ingyball alluded. Time for the Euro to show a GL cutter 🥴
JayPSU
I mean, what can you do. The "good" news is that with so much run to run variance, we're not out of it.
Moderators Hiramite Posted December 15, 2022 Moderators Share Posted December 15, 2022 But I jest. Long way to go....its gonna get cold....something to track.
Meteorologist Ingyball Posted December 15, 2022 Meteorologist Share Posted December 15, 2022 Still think the OV is in play, but it will be from a storm coming out of Texas. In this case you'd have cold air much further south to the west allowing for a storm track that move north-northeast up the Apps.
MidMichiganWx
east coast crowd is going to have a major snow boner after that run.

cperry29
Swiped this from Twitter and was gonna post in the Christmas thread but I didn’t wanna offend any northeast posters. 🙂Bitter Christmas Eve following this storm regardless of snow. Definitely going to get cold... IMO, if it's going to get bitterly cold, I want to go for some broken records. If the GFS is correct, we have no chance of that without some snow cover. Hard pass on 2 degrees with zero snow on the ground to enjoy.

Meteorologist Ingyball Posted December 15, 2022 Meteorologist Share Posted December 15, 2022 I selfishly would love the UK's 500mb pattern, but that's the western extreme imo. Too bad the model has fallen so hard the last couple of years.
Ohiobuckeye45
Strongest western ridge runs from the GFS has been the last 2 run of several days worth. Pushing towards a +3 PNA is pretty healthy. BTW "gray" lines are older....before Tuesday. Useful to see where its been "trending"

Snow from DFW to Cleveland. I'm not buys the juiced up Clipper solution so an apps runner would be the middle ground. cperry29
Toss in the 12z NAVGEM. Looks Euroish to me. I’m surprised it’s not further east. Maybe at some point today the rest of the slides will load. It’s been stuck at 180 for an hour.
