Admin Mainiac Posted December 17, 2022 Admin Share Posted December 17, 2022 Still have not seen a single snowflake and still expecting 8"-13" per the latest NWS Caribou snow map. They moved the winter storm warning forward 9 hours since last night, which means the storm warning itself will run into Monday. URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Caribou ME 313 AM EST Sat Dec 17 2022 MEZ001-002-171615- /O.UPG.KCAR.WS.A.0011.221217T1200Z-221219T0000Z/ /O.NEW.KCAR.WW.Y.0031.221217T1800Z-221219T0600Z/ Northwest Aroostook-Northeast Aroostook- Including the cities of Mars Hill, Madawaska, Clayton Lake, Caribou, Allagash, Fort Kent, Van Buren, Presque Isle, Frenchville, and Ashland 313 AM EST Sat Dec 17 2022 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 1 AM EST MONDAY... * WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 7 and 13 inches. * WHERE...Northeast Aroostook and Northwest Aroostook Counties. * WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 1 AM EST Monday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. The latest road conditions for Maine can be obtained by going to newengland511.org. && $$ Edit: I find it kind of hilarious that under the new system 7"-13" is a winter weather advisory and not a winter storm warning. Edit to my Edit: There is a > 50% chance that enough snow will fall to trigger the warning here (8+ inches)but it will not happen in a 24 hour window. Thus the advisory. 1

MainelySnow
Still snowing lightly in West Lebanon with about 6-8 inches on the ground. Trees are just absolutely pasted! Dog went out to do his business and got snowbombed. Surprised the power outages aren't worse - about 12,000 currently in York County. Cannot wait to get the snowshoes out this afternoon! 2

TheRex
At 11 am, it is currently 33F with light snow. Looking at local reports, I think we have 8" of heavy wet snow. I'm about to eat and then go out and start on removing this concrete like substance from my driveway. It made for some pretty pictures early this morning. I'd say I was on the high end of things, so a bit if an over performer IMBY. Hi-res FV3 was definitely way too warm. NAM12 was a little high, NAM3 a little low. Sref and EPS means were too low. Exceeded my expectations.

TheRex
BTV snowfall map from 7 am Friday to 7 am Saturday. Southern areas would have had quite a bit of snow by 7 am yesterday and northern areas would have picked up more snow after 7 am today. It snowed here until 1 pm and then the sun made an appearance right before sundown to light up the mountains.

It's was some mashed potatoes here too, wow was it thick. I was thinking it could've been as low as 6:1. I woulda been screwed if I tried using my old snowblower. Had to take it slow still.
