tool483
Just started precipitating and its wet not white, just a really light mist, temp between 36-37...we'll see, this was never a SNE storm unless you have some elevation going on. JDClapper
Got an addtional 1.25" from that last batch of snow. Storm total 2.75" Not expected squat until maybe in the morning, and that would just be to freshen up the top layer.
Moderators StretchCT Posted December 16, 2022 Moderators Share Posted December 16, 2022 Drove to Danbury. Barely any precip. Snizzle.

Not close to that 6 to 8 inches, but still looks beautiful. 2 1
MDBlueridge
Were at 33F but headed in the right direction it seems. Daylight will show a lot of damage. Hate these dam events. 1

Lazman
Steve T-Rex took one last measurement just as the Rain started. 3 1/2 Inches tells me I busted just a bit low on my Call for 4+ Inches for the Greater Hazleton Area. 🦖 ❄️❄️❄️ 2
TheComet
Measured close to 5". It's been thumping on and off for last few hours. It's a heavy, concrete like snow. Temp is 30F. NWS now says to expect freezing rain overnight. Let's see if that verifies
Moderators StretchCT Posted December 16, 2022 Moderators Share Posted December 16, 2022 (edited) Now it's picking up. Of course it's rain though. Latest sounding from Long Island. NAM had this, so a little warmer in the 700-800 level. Meanwhile HRRR was too cold at the surface. No inversion And the 12z GFS for kicks - a little too dry in the mid level but not bad. TheRex
BTV has removed the mention of "rain" in my forecast and keep me all snow. Current temp of 30 with temps being around 32 the next 36 house. It should be interesting. I hope we don't have to deal with any ice 2

Moderators StretchCT Posted December 16, 2022 Moderators Share Posted December 16, 2022 It’s like hundreds of tiny flakes between huge drops of rain. My son even asked me what that was.

Same here, large rain drops with what looks like white in the streetlight...life of living in a valley lol, hopefully the hills do good!
HVSNOWSTORM
Really crazy around here as we were forecast to be 12" in western ulster and at my home and the valley about 15 min east is forecast 2-8" lol. The accumulation varies seems without reason. One town has about 3" and moderate snow then 1 mile down the road its a slushy paste fest. Then another 1 Mile it's snow. The elevations are the same... My home at 1500' is all snow prob little over 3" of extremely heavy wet snow. Edited December 16, 2022 by HVSNOWSTORM
Admin MaineJay Posted December 16, 2022 Admin Share Posted December 16, 2022 29.7° with a dusting out there. Coastal front showing up on radar, and it's in a favorable position for now. How it holds in the face of a strong easterly fetch will be the question.

Easterly surface winds are creating precip in the lowest levels, while in the mid levels, it's streaming in from the SW on warm air advection. 1
