Great more good news. Right into the vulnerable harbor. 🤬

Just found out why AF302 dropped in altitude, they were stalling and fell 1,500 feet, Scary stuff.

That's what would terrify me about flying in a hurricane, especially near the eyewall. We've seen the smaller vortices that sometimes extend into the eye. If you are flying along in a crosswind or headwind and suddenly the wind direction changes to a stiff tailwind, your airspeed can drop below your stall speed. The only solution is to add full power and ride it out, hoping that you don't get into an irrecoverable spin or run out of altitude before your airspeed recovers.

I'm a Mayday/Air Disasters series junkie and the Hurricane Hunter episode was one that stood out.

Edit: Wrong episode attached.

208mph on the velocity radar 8500 feet up.  And a number of 190s to support it.

Gave a laugh because I don't even know what reactions to use here anymore. Need a going back to bed reaction. Or maybe this:

It's still going to be pretty destructive up their way, but the residents of Bradenton/Sarasota are breathing a small sigh of relief as they'll miss out on the worst of the storm surge/wind.

Wow just remember I had a HS friend in Naples… asked him if he left…nope he’s riding it out 😖

Ugh, that is not good.

Note: we need a facepalm smiley in the post choices when liking, thanks, thumbs up, etc...
