Moderators Hiramite Posted March 28, 2023 Moderators Share Posted March 28, 2023 Nothing wintry in my neck of the woods, might as well wish I was on Lassen Peak today (3/28) in CA. 1

Meteorologist so_whats_happening Posted March 29, 2023 Meteorologist Share Posted March 29, 2023 (edited) These have been beautiful systems coming into the west coast! Pac NW is suffering a little as it misses that tropical connection. Can you tell the pattern has been rather repetitive. Moderators StretchCT Posted April 3, 2023 Author Moderators Share Posted April 3, 2023 (edited) Great videos in this article. NOAA flies low altitude missions through the CA canyons to measure snow. It's like the video games I grew up with. Worth a scroll through. Article is gifted so anyone can read https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/03/climate/california-storms-snowpack.html?unlocked_article_code=1Cm4J6337ElT411FeErOFWMtzkebREsFn5E8lkv_ZJr2kpEGOAB5dRT9yIXShr-ug6XHCdjJ6xCCuO8EcljgnOjAdd1WzSC8XIpZmdYidauU9LTPh3plM1B7x8NRKpSVAmS8aH11AnSK4tvp3ujdhdrX71GBZ6LL8CjdNhHDI3TlJ2r9J0oh1VXFJJLj800T-W9wzGznGEWVxON9s4LN_TCklPSCrVSBKKchYE29zf7Q9Ewt9TLiKWxBliSfFNp1tE1K0L5pUl4k4TuEJoTG2UnZaMCFCcMfoDOS5tabHRfI0PJgRlfApR7ouLrvLPkLj_u90iTUSh_xq2fUE7GPmF_A7ME&smid=url-share Edited April 3, 2023 by StretchCT 1
Moderators StretchCT Posted April 11, 2023 Author Moderators Share Posted April 11, 2023 (edited) You can drive your snowmobile over houses in CA now. Lucky there's not much more on the GFS for the next two weeks. Edited April 11, 2023 by StretchCT 1

Moderators StretchCT Posted April 13, 2023 Author Moderators Share Posted April 13, 2023 (edited) Back to that rain in FL yesterday... It may be the heaviest non tropical rainfall in the state's history, if not the Conus. Google wasn't really doing a good job in finding the top non tropical rainfalls in the CONUS but I do have each state's 24hr rainfall record and the only non tropical one for sure is the CA at 25", so really close. FL rainfall records in major cities include: Key West 11/11/1980 (H Jeanne). 22.75" Ft. Lauderdale 4/25/79 (non tropical) See article for event 14.59" Daytona 10/8/1953 (H Hazel) 9.15" Jacksonville 10/19/44 (Cuba Florida Hurricane) 9.21" Miami 4/25/1979 (non-tropical) 14.85" Orlando 9/16/1945 (Homestead Hurricane) 8.43 Pensacola 4/29/2014 (non tropical see article) 15.55" St. Petersburg 6/26/74 (subtropical storm 1) 9.14" Tampa 5/8/79 (non tropical) 11.45 Vero Beach 5/17/2016 (non tropical see article ) 11.22 West Palm 4/17/1942 (non tropical) 15.22 Not noticing any trends with record rainfall events within the last 20 years or so. Moderators StretchCT Posted June 7, 2023 Author Moderators Share Posted June 7, 2023 (edited) NWS San Juan Twitter feed is worth a look with regards to the heat and record maxes and mins. SJU's all time max temp was 98 in October of 1981. 97 is the all time June max. NWS has forecast highs in the low 90's rest of the week.
