I visited with a couple this past weekend who live in the Dallas area, and are retiring to Maine. They said it had been over 60 days that they have seen rain. The ground is probably having a hard time absorbing rain because it's hard pan.

More insanity for the SW US monsoon season. Direct influence of an eastern Pacific hurricane. This season has been so crazy, this might be merely top 3 instead of 1.

Still could be a catastrophic event for New Mexico.

To put it in perspective, this would be the equivalent of going from Hilton Head to NYC on the Eastern Seaboard.  Way back into the Appalachians (Alleghenies in PA), basically the entire Piedmont.

High temps so far in Northern CA

Been a while since we've seen an extreme fire risk. Good sign we're moving out of summer.

Also scattered dry thunderstorm risk combined with a slight risk of severe storms. 2022 is weird, and it was all started by the curse of 2020.
