MCC's are tough to nail down around these parts and dont really see them that often, so if this verifies it will be interesting.

The last one I remember that came close was the crazy derecho during that June 2012 heatwave where the northern edge of it just missed Pittsburgh to the south. What would be even crazier about this one is that it would come through between the middle of the night and just before sunrise into PA. The Storm Prediction Center has a zone of sig severe wind risk between SE Wisconsin and the Laurel Highlands of PA

I remember that. We were terribly dry here and even with some wind could have used it but watched it skirt by with just a sprinkle.

My dad and uncle still tell about the '77 Johnstown flood and the vivid lightningband sheets of 4ain from that......one MCC that did hit us head on.  The lighnining was described as "making it light enough  could read a book"

Gonna be really ugly if storms can somehow develop away from the MCS in Ohio. Very, very favorable conditions for supercells/tornadoes. But that seems very unlikely and definitely a nowcast scenario.

And they appear to be possibly dropping this way.

Yea but it would need to turn more to directly hit us here I think, but we may still get a nice view if it holds strength and makes it here before sundown.

Northern cell looks to merge, see what happens then.

I never realized the Johnstown flood of 77 was from a MCC. That late June and July of 2012 was the hottest summer I've ever been through so far. We ended up getting like 10 minutes worth of rain from that derecho, it was enough to cool us down to the mid-60s after getting up to 97 that afternoon. Felt downright cool 😂. I think we had just over an inch of rain for all of June during that month. The grass was parched all over for the 4th of July.

I didnt know either until a few years ago.  Even with this crude 1977 satellite shot you can really see it explode right over central PA

I'll stop hijacking this thread now 😉

Gonna be really interesting to see the 0z suite now that storms have developed. Very important part of this event, second only to tomorrows 12z for obvious reasons.
