NKY supercell is definitely strengthening

Edit: as soon as I posted this, I was about to edit that it might get a tornado warning soon. Alas, tornado warning just got issued.

Tornado warned

Not seeing anything too crazy on velocity at the moment, which is a good thing

CVG radar definitely showed reason for concern, but yeah, it was pretty brief. Worthy of a tornado warning but it doesn't look like anything happened.

This radar loop shows a pretty classic tornadogenesis process. First, notice the divergence/microburst signature at the beginning of the loop (west of Taylor Mill)... easily noticeable by the bright reds that appeared.... that's the forward flank downdraft (FFD). But also notice how a tornado signature evolved south of the divergence signature (south of Taylor Mill) shortly after and we saw a hook rapidly develop. That's the rear flank downdraft (RFD) wrapping around.

At least in this case, it appears that the FFD contributed to a surge in the RFD

The supercell southwest of me is looking pretty serious but, good for me, it should stay to my south.

Yea taking a right turn for sure with that little hook. Still seems like these storms can't strengthen much.

That whole line of cells all have little hooks behind them. Can only imagine what this event would be if there were better ingredients. Yikes.

Meanwhile getting some good rains here.

I think the speed of the updrafts was the problem today. Shear was obviously not the issue given how many hooks there were. They just didn't strengthen that much.

Can’t see anything but it’s weird to see a patch of blue sky this close to the supercell.

Just heard on the radio that there’s video of a funnel cloud

edit: just realized they were talking about the other tornadic supercell. And apparently they have video of a tornado on the ground there

Seeing debris up to 6000 feet. EF1, possibly EF2.

My mom is shopping at the Dayton Mall and I told her she's fine but the employees aren't believing her... rightfully so because they can't go on their word... so she's being forced to take shelter.
