Meteorologist Ingyball Posted May 22, 2022 Meteorologist Share Posted May 22, 2022 Got a nice little heavy rain setup here tomorrow evening through Tuesday. Could see widespread 2-4" wouldn't surprise me if we saw 3-6" where training occurs. Probably right on the nose of the moisture transport just south of the warm front.

Meteorologist ClicheVortex2014 Posted May 23, 2022 Meteorologist Share Posted May 23, 2022 (edited) Funny thing about this is I swam in that pool. My friends and I stayed in this hotel for Spring Break 2017. (We could only afford to stay there because we split a room like 7 ways) I feel like a waterspout on a pool should have a cooler name. How about chlorinespout? Edited May 23, 2022 by ClicheVortex2014
Meteorologist ClicheVortex2014 Posted May 23, 2022 Meteorologist Share Posted May 23, 2022 There’s already been a decent number of tornado warnings in the Southeast associated with the almost-tropical cyclone that quickly developed in the northern Gulf. One mini-supercell in SC has a max width of ~5 miles. The Gaylord supercell was somewhere around 25 miles
Meteorologist ClicheVortex2014 Posted May 23, 2022 Meteorologist Share Posted May 23, 2022 (edited) Doesn't look like that strong of a tornado but you can't argue against that debris ball. Might have debris up to and beyond 10k feet. This is in extreme NW SC Given todays setup with strong low-level moisture and post-tropical cyclone-like system, it makes sense the strongest rotation in a tornado would be closer to the ground. Well, I'd consider these reports pretty reliable. I guess a NWS employee chose to go chasing in their offtime which I'd imagine is pretty common LARGE TORNADO REPORTED BY OFF-DUTY NWS EMPLOYEE. Appears we’re going at another tornadogenesis attempt Just noticed the cold pool advancing toward the supercell that kinda dissipated on approach. I'd imagine that caused the LCL to lower by at least decreasing the temps on a pretty local scale. The fact that it was dissipating also was probably a huge factor otherwise this tornado probably wouldn't have existed. Even if I'm wrong on those exact details, it must've helped create this monster because it's no coincidence that this monster happened after this boundary was heading toward it.
