Seeing you guys cashing in on some good storms up there in the marginal and slight risk areas (not the ones producing tors further south) is making me a little salty 🙃

Yeah that's why I'm happy to have anything today. But you're still in the heart of tornado climatology for the next month and a half. Good chance you'll see something that I've never seen in my life.

I'm aware, he had more experience than me and clearly had better interviews. Since I reworked my resume in October, I've heard back from 4 of 15 vacancy applications, which isn't bad considering. got 6 under review right now. It's a grind

Not to go OT here, but I'm on a hockey message board and one of the younger guys there just landed a job with NWS Philly after also getting an offer from NWS Miami. Hoping everything works out for you. Love reading all your posts. As a weather noob, I've definitely learned things from reading your posts.

Much appreciated, and if anyone deviated the conversation, it's me.

I've pissed harder than what's falling outside from this squall. First slight risk bust of the year? Check.

I see thats not the case for many tonight though. Still salty about all day convective debris. Oh well. Its only mid April.

At least you got something in the slight risk!

Now that things are kinda calming down... I just wanna point out that:

We could go without tornadoes for the rest of April and we'd still likely be slightly above average for the year.

But going half of April without tornadoes is basically impossible. Plus, it's not gonna be long until we're talking about severe weather again. Ensembles are showing yet another western trough for late April.

I really do not know what happened earlier today but the severe weather really did not happen much in Missouri and Illinois.  Of course ,the final tornado count today should be kind of low, as there are only 2 tornado reports now, but some more tornado confirmations will be discovered at some point.

by my dumb math;

The 15% risk was 54211 sq miles. divide by 625 sq miles (25miles x 25 miles) and multiply by 0.15, then you get 13.011 tornadoes. The same thing for the 10% and 5% risk areas gives 21.427 tornadoes and 18.263 tornadoes, adding up to 52.70 tornadoes
10% risk, 133918 sq miles
5% risk, 228288 sq miles

Today was just bizarre...strange. had a weird feel to it. Event underperformed for sure overall. I'm sick of this La Nina. 😒

Yes, I've really underperformed for storms, I've yet to get the first hailstorm of the year.

And it's either the worst of the storm system, or none of the storm system for my area.
