Meteorologist ClicheVortex2014 Posted April 6, 2022 Author Meteorologist Share Posted April 6, 2022 (edited) Seems like a good example of a supercell that has the absolute minimum amount of shear needed to maintain a mesocyclone, but not enough to maintain a strong meso. The FFD of the cell looks really anemic, especially compared to the hook area. End result is brief supercellular tornadoes. Hodograph just ahead of the supercell. Not eye popping in any way. Meteorologist ClicheVortex2014 Posted April 7, 2022 Author Meteorologist Share Posted April 7, 2022 Mature MCS has developed out of that mess in Georgia. Strong cold pool has developed, possibly bookend vortex forming, and you can see the intense motions of the system around the northern end of the higher reflectivity. Creates an interesting rain pattern.

Iceresistance
The only reason why that there was not as many tornadoes as feared is because the Shear was weaker than expected, which is a really good scenario. With one of the main ingredients for Supercells with Long-lived tornadoes weaker than expected, it has changed the outcome of this outbreak in our favor with less tornadoes (Also see 5.20.2019)

Mid-level dryness (just above 700mb) was too much and air parcels in the warm sector weren't able to make it past that point. The 45% tornado area SPC put out was for that warm sector activity Edited April 7, 2022 by ClicheVortex2014
