Undertakerson2.0
So - We did not see any meteors nor aurora last night. However, we did see Starlinks satellite tain for the first time. We got home and I looked into how many of those critters there are and where they were/are. Yowser!
Admin Mainiac Posted August 12 Admin Share Posted August 12 I've got some aurora right now although it's mixed clouds so hopefully it clears up. Nothing special yet but you can see the greens on the horizon.
Admin Mainiac Posted August 12 Admin Share Posted August 12 It's actually turning out to be quite impressive and I suspect with its position on the horizon for me that it should be viewable quite a ways south.

Admin Mainiac Posted August 12 Admin Share Posted August 12 I only had my iPhone on hand unfortunately but I did try to capture some of what I was viewing, which was spectacular. This was easily one of the most vibrant and viewable aurora that I've seen here in Northern Maine only being upstaged by the May events. IMG_2043.mov IMG_1996.mov IMG_1997.mov I know the video is of horrendous quality but I figured I would include it because it at least gives an idea of what it actually looks like in camera. Obviously the ISO is through the roof. However it does offer a fairly realistic view of what it looks like outside on a night like tonight with the naked eye. Just much much worse and pixelated.
Undertakerson2.0
https://www.cbsnews.com/pittsburgh/news/northern-lights-perseid-meteor-shower-spotted-in-western-pennsylvania/ Damn Auroras. Always picking the nights AFTER I've had a very hard day and go to bed early. 😄
Rush
I muted the app that alerts me back during the cloudy fiasco in May so missed this. 1

Undertakerson2.0
I guess the Rooster will have to set the alarm early tonight. This is what I missed last night (there are other pics that are even better due to being taken at around 2 a.m.)

Admin Mainiac Posted August 13 Admin Share Posted August 13 I did not get a lot of pink last night so I'm kind of excited. It was mostly a green event. Mark I eyeball reports that the auroral oval goes further south at this time.

I missed it too. I don't recall if I had clear skies for it in my area, but it was one of those times where I remembered during the middle of the day and then by the time I got home I forgot all about it due to other things going on.
Rush
Up north of Montreal. Unfortunately I decided to take my tripod out of my bag this morning after checking the forecast.
Admin MaineJay Posted September 8 Author Admin Share Posted September 8 Just came to post about the Sept 10 potential. The equinox makes for a more favorable magnetic field, hopefully it will be clear.
